Asphalt Plant Groundsman

Job Summary:

Knife River is seeking an individual to assist with maintenance and repair of our asphalt plant, and conveyor systems. Will also perform a wide range of general laboring duties at the asphalt plant to help keep operations running smoothly.

Minimum Qualifications:
-A valid Driver's License is preferred.
-Previous experience working around material plants and construction is preferred.
-Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day time/night time).
-Ability to work outside in all seasons. Extreme hot and cold temperatures may occur.
-Must have a “safety first” attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required.
Essential Duties/Responsibilites:
Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems, and maintenance.
Must have good mechanical, troubleshooting, and some welding ability.
Need positive attitude and the ability to work well with others and follow directions.
Must be willing to work overtime as directed, and able to work extended hours if needed.
Equipment operation skills helpful.
Must be able to work long hours in all weather conditions.
Perform clean-up duties, oiling, lubrication, and miscellaneous repairs.
Responsible for seeing that all safety equipment is in place at all times.
Visually and audibly monitor plant components while in operation and notify plant supervisor of any inconsistencies .
Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
Timely and regular attendance is essential.
Perform other duties as instructed.

GENERAL
1. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
2. Ensure OSHA, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
3. Performs other duties as assigned
