Knife River has an immediate opening for a Chief Estimator in our Metro Construction division. We offer competitive wages with a full benefits package.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
-Assemble large public agency bids as a general.
-Provide project administrative management of awarded contracts.
-Coordinate with Construction Manager and field leadership, establishment of project objectives, procedures, schedules and performance requirements. May provide indirect or direct supervision of field crew members/foreman or superintendents.
-Maintain documentation of quantities and value of work estimated/completed to support forecasting for future project performance.
-Provide ongoing support to Construction/Operations for efficient and profitable execution of work including scheduling, procurement and change order/supplemental work processes.
-Monitor/Manage subcontractors work.
-Partner with Contract Administrator to review and process financial aspects of contracts (ie: billings, subcontract payments, material payments, collections, etc.)
-Manage project (responsible for all projects bid unless reassigned)
-Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operations).
-Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
-Build and maintain relationships with agencies and community leaders.
-Ensure that work in progress conforms to specifications, is of high quality, and adheres to schedules.
-Review proposal specifications, drawings, pre-bid meetings and visit project sites to determine scope of work required in preparing bid/estimate proposal.
-Determine labor, equipment and material requirements to complete project and use information to prepare bid/estimate proposal.
-Submit complete bid/estimate proposals to project owners, managers and/or general contractors in a timely and professional manner, provide any clarification on information submitted as needed.
-Other miscellaneous duties as directed by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
-College degree in CEM or related field required
-7+ years work experience in Project Management/Estimating that demonstrates the skills required to perform the job
-Experience bidding and managing multi-million dollar projects as a general
-FAA and/or DOT project management experience required
-Strong Computer skills required - fluency in Microsoft Office, experience with HCSS Heavy Bid / Heavy Job preferred.
-Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
-Must have good math skills and the ability to organize and prioritize work.
-Basic survey skills and the ability to read plans and specifications.
-The ability to work well with others as a team and handle pressure and stressful situations positively.
-Must have a strong commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and safety.
