Entry Level: $7,053 - $8,817 /month

Job Summary:
Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others. Responsible for designing, directing, coordinating and implementing safety programs and initiatives. Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations and company policies related to employee safety.
Minimum Qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulations and a thorough technical understanding of electric operations at a level normally acquired through a four-year degree in a safety or business- related curriculum.
• Seven years of experience in a large industrial facility or seven years electric distribution or power production utility experience.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience

Preferred Qualification - Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop written rules, standards, policy, and to conduct meetings and make group presentations.
• Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Excellent analytical and investigation skills.
• Proficient in operation and use of personal computers with commercially available software.
• Proven track record of demonstrating project management skills.
• Must have excellent collaborative and team building skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, management, and organizational abilities, and experience managing multiple projects with tight/changing deadlines.
Job Responsibilities
• Researches, develops, and implements safety programs to enhance, encourage, and promote a positive safety culture and safe work practices, and to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe practices and conditions.
• Works as a collaborative partner with all staff in the Utility Group safety and technical training department.
• Develops and maintains Utility Group relationships with region directors, directors, managers, supervisors, employees and subject matter experts.
• Maintains industry peer relationships to develop continuity with changing processes and techniques.
• Reviews, interprets, and communicates company, local, state, and federal regulations to ensure understanding and compliance. Represents the Company in community and industry safety groups.
• Works closely with various departments to develop, maintain, and practice safe work habits, recognition, visibility, and awareness.
• Responsible to oversee and/or conduct safety meetings and events with various employee/non-employee groups to educate and motivate individuals concerning safety.
• Responsible for development, implementation and maintenance of PPE programs, Hearing Protection Program, Hazard Communication Program and other administrative and work practice controls.
• Responsible for the Hazard Communication program and scrutinizes employee exposure to extremely hazardous substances.
• Coordinates advanced facility inspections and coordinates, implements, and administers field audits/observations... Follows-up with stakeholders regarding corrective measures, assignments, and reporting.
• Creates, coordinates, plans, audits, and implements all functions of the Company’s safety policies and procedures, including maintaining OSHA required records.
• Maintains records of company motor vehicle accidents/injuries, directs company compliance programs and works with outside agencies including DOT and OSHA.
• Responsible for the investigation and follow-up of safety related incidents/accidents.
• Monitors Worker's Compensation claims and works to reduce employee lost-time by participating in Disability Management process.
• Supports the development of safety recognition programs that further strengthen the corporate safety culture.
• Coordinates and/or participates in company Security Advisory Council to protect physical and cyber assets.
• Responsible to ensure that utility group safety committees are active and reporting current activities which requires coordination and leadership and assists various safety committees by providing resources and policy information.
• Responsible to organize, maintain, and update Company safety resources; conduct /report and follow up on safety audits throughout the Company; and Maintain and update SDS throughout assigned Regions and Power Production.
• Responsible for partnering with the Safety Managers within the Utility Group and Technical Training to develop safety related technical training curricula.
• Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
