Asphalt Plant/Yard Manager

Job Summary:
Manage asphalt plant and yard employees. Must have extensive knowledge of asphalt plants including proper operation and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Experience in a related supervisory role.
-Extensive experience in asphalt plant operation and maintenance and repair.
-Above average mechanical ability along with basic electrical /electronic troubleshooting.
-Knowledge of blending and load out control systems.
-Experience with welding and fabrication a plus.
-Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.
-Must have own tools.
Additional Requirements:
-Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
-Pass a pre-employment Physical Performance Evaluation.
-Able to handle multiple responsibilities at one time.
-Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
-Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
-Be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
-Report to work at the designated start time.
-Be able to work flexible work hours.
-Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
-The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other coworkers and managers.
-Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
-Will work in elevated situations utilizing all required safety measures and equipment. -Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSA regulations for safe working procedures.
-Report any problems to your manager.
-Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific duty.
-Ensure quality through evaluation of the production process, material inputs and outputs, and blending control settings.
-Partner with support functions to ensure that highest quality product is being delivered.
-Analyze malfunctions and repairs, rebuild and maintain equipment including but not limited to the following: Natural Gas fired heaters, oil tanks, pumps, silos, conveyers and air compressors.
-Perform record keeping and reporting of time, plant metrics, material inventory, and parts used on the appropriate forms.
-Plan work procedures and / or possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts and rearrangement of parts or sub-assemblies.
-Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
-Assist other plant and yard personnel in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of equipment /vehicles.
-Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
-Must have valid driver’s license and meet the qualifications of the fleet safety program. -Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
-Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
-Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
-Timely and regular attendance is essential.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
