Safety Manager

Job Summary:
Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. Promote Wagner Smith Equipment’s core values and safety culture. Plan, implement and supervise safety programs in compliance with OSHA & corporate safety program standards.

1. Provide overall leadership, professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of safety processes for all aspects including regulatory agency compliance, and employee Safety knowledge.
2. Responsible for the contentious development and implantation of Safety policies and procedures.
3. Provide recommendations to company management and executive leadership for effective workplace safety program.
4. Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety management and contacting supervisory personnel, as needed.
5. Responsible to continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and
preparedness across the organization to create a culture that prioritizes effective safety engagement.
6. Coordinate and document safety training of personnel as needed.
7. Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions and activities.
8. Required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required.
9. This position is required to drive. Must be able to travel to all six WSE locations for training, conferences or any other necessary events.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational and experience requirements include: Four-year occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of training and related experience. Minimum of five years construction and/or industrial safety experience. Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company regulations. Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures is essential. Must have safe driving record and a valid driver’s license according to legal requirements.
Key Skills and Competencies
Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule. Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent communication, supervisory skills are essential. Must maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
