Job Summary:
GENERAL SUMMARY/PRIMARY FUNCTION

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Manage accounting staff to ensure compliance with strict deadlines for accurate financial reporting to publicly held parent company, company President, and corporate executives.
2. Direct and coordinate the accounting, budgeting, and other financial operations of the company.
3. Provide administrative and technical supervision to staff while providing in-service training and development opportunities.
4. Oversee payroll function and related benefit management and reporting for both union and non-union employees in coordination with HR.
5. Participate in short and long-term strategic planning for the company.
6. Recommend policies and procedures relating to financial and business practices of the company.
7. Review and monitor internal controls for adherence to company and corporate operational and financial policies and conformance to Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
8. Perform monthly work in progress reviews with management staff, for all projects, to ensure correct reporting of costs, revenue, and billings while adhering to GAAP and corporate policies.
9. Monitor business expenses to ensure they are properly recorded, documented, and supported.
10. Interface with operations and corporate management to provide support for job management, claims management, insurance, and legal issues.
11. Develop ad-hoc reports and analyses of accounting data as required by President and management.
12. Assist in the preparation of required government and private financial and/or informational requests for data.
13. Function as management link between staff and corporate accounting.
14. Perform additional duties as directed by company President and/or Corporate Executives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational and experience requirements include: Four years accounting degree with advanced degree or CPA preferred. Ten years’ experience in accounting role with advancing responsibilities, and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management required. Knowledge of GAAP Accounting standards codifications all relevant Federal, State, and local requirements regarding financial records and benefit compliance. Knowledge of the unique aspects of construction accounting preferred. Experience in managing multiple staff members.
Key Skills and Competencies
Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a timely manner. Strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution are needed. Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Requires a positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal and external customers. Good punctuation, spelling, and grammar skills are essential. Financial software experience preferred, and public company accounting over site experience is required. Must maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.

MAJOR CHALLENGES
Major challenges of this position are decentralized accounting transactions, prioritizing multiple work duties and accomplishing them in a timely manner for a multi-dimensional department. Managing multiple locations, travel is required.
