Concrete Spread Paving Superintendent

We have an excellent opportunity for concrete finisher on our concrete team that work in IA, NE, SD. We offer competitive wages with a full benefits package. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

*Responsible to safely supervise and coordinate activities of project in concrete paving, grading, and concrete production.
*Gravel Base - To oversee efficiency of gravel/base operation and produce quality.
*Concrete Plant - To oversee production of quality product to ensure customer satisfaction.
Concrete Paving - To oversee efficiency of paving operation to produce quality concrete product.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Over 2 years up to and including 4 years from post high school, work, military, institutional or vocational environment.

2. Minimum 3 years experience in product line and supervisory role.

3. Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.

2. Safely and properly supervise and coordinate activities of projects.

3. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.

4. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.

5. Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR regulation compliance

6. Ensure compliance with all company safety and environmental policies and procedures.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Gravel Base
1. Communicate gravel/base crew needs with dispatch.
2. Communicate needs with suppliers
3. Work with crews, inspectors, and subcontractors to complete projects.
4. Work with Foremen to complete quality gravel/base jobs within specifications.
5. Coach employees.
6. Communicate needed information to employees.
7. Complete necessary paperwork.

Concrete Plant
1. Supervise personnel at plant
2. Work with plant personal to coordinate the maintenance and repair of mobile equipment.
3. Work with plant personal to coordinate the delivery of loads.
4. Work with plant personal to coordinate safety compliance.
5. Work with plant personal to coordinate environmental compliance.
6. Implement products developed.
7. Assist in resolving employee problems.
8. Supervises and coordinates activities of work crews engaged in preparing and applying concrete. Reads specification sheets for information.
9. Approve and submit work hours for personnel and pertinent job information as
needed.

Paving
1. Communicate paving crew needs with dispatch - Calculate number of trucks required to haul aggregate and/or concrete according to capacity of vehicles, traffic conditions, distance from work site and productivity of drivers.
2. Communicate needs to plant.
3. Work with crews, inspectors, and subcontractors to complete projects.
4. Work With crews to produce quality concrete product within specifications.
5. Coach employees.
6. Communicate needed information to employees.
7. Assist new employees.
8. Approve and submit work hours for crew and pertinent job information as needed.
9. Tour work site to ascertain progress in meeting time schedules and to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment.
10. Measure slope and thickness of paving to verify compliance with contract.
11. Measure distances from reference points to locate boundaries of construction site.
12. Directs work crews engaged in operation of vehicles and machines.
13. Supervise concrete paving crews
