Construction Supervisor - Electric

Entry Level: $4,413/$5,947 - $5,517/$7,433 /month

Job Summary:
Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others. Provides leadership and supervision to utility and/or contractor construction crews. Responsible for planning and coordinating manpower and equipment needs to facilitate new construction and maintenance/upgrades to existing systems in a safe and cost-effective manner in compliance with company and industry standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must possess a working knowledge of gas and/or electric utility operations at a level normally acquired through an Associate’s Degree with strong technical emphasis or four years related experience.
• Two years of experience in the construction and maintenance of related facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Degree in business or engineering disciplines and prior leadership experience.
Job Responsibliites
1. Supervises assigned construction and maintenance projects to comply with established codes and standards of the Company and to meet state and federal regulations. This includes but is not necessarily limited to the following:
a. Provides safe working conditions and equipment on the job and enforces safety rule to prevent injury.
b. Plans, schedules and coordinates projects with supervisor and engineering staff and providing input to budget process.
c. Prepares paperwork and obtaining approvals; arranges for materials; provides progress updates.
d. Inspects or provides for on-site inspection while maintenance work is being done to ensure that proper procedures are followed and quality of work is to proper codes and standards.
e. Monitors manpower, expenditures and timelines to assure that projects are completed on time and on budget.
f. Provides safe working conditions and equipment on the job and enforces safety rules to prevent injury.
g. Maintains positive relations and contact with landowners, associated companies which may be involved with respective projects.
2. Assures that assigned employees are operator qualified and/or licensed to do assigned tasks. Provides appropriate training and documentation to comply with company and local, state and federal requirements.
3. Supplies data to appropriate personnel to keep maps and files up-to-date and accurate.
4. Provides documentation related to construction to appropriate departments in timely manner to assure compliance.
5. Qualifies or participates in the testing of employees/contract welders to ensure codes are met.
6. Maintains high ethical standards as a responsibility and a commitment to customers, community and company.
7. Maintains awareness of related industry trends, new or changed regulations and standards and new technology developments.
8. Supervises and evaluates assigned crew members to maximize productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
9. Accepts “Supervisor On Call Duty” as assigned.
10. Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.

• Familiar with legal requirements, NERC regulations, and environmental guidelines regarding vegetation management.

• Strong analytical ability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead crews to work safety and effectively.
• Requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications and Mobile applications.
Additional Information
• Required to maintain a valid driver’s license.
• May be required to submit to periodic background checks if position requires access to security sensitive business locations and/or systems.
• Position requires travel throughout the service territory, and work in the field in all weather conditions.
• May be subject to substance abuse testing program
• On call rotation
• Must reside within 20 min of Sheridan office.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
• Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
