Job Summary:

Coordinate activities of transportation and material-moving machine and plant helpers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist workers in tasks such as loading and unloading vehicles.
Compute or estimate transportation, personnel, or storage requirements.
Confer with customers, supervisors, contractors, or other personnel to exchange information or to resolve problems.
Direct workers in transportation or related services, such as moving, storing, or loading or unloading of materials.
Drive vehicles or operate machines or equipment to complete work assignments or to assist workers.
Enforce safety rules and regulations.
Examine, measure, or weigh cargo or materials to determine specific handling requirements.
Explain and demonstrate work tasks to new workers or assign training tasks to experienced workers.
Inspect or test materials, stock, vehicles, equipment, or facilities to ensure that they are safe, free of defects, and consistent with specifications.
Perform or schedule repairs or preventive maintenance of vehicles or other equipment.
Plan work assignments and equipment allocations to meet transportation, operations or production goals.
Prepare, compile, and submit reports on work activities, operations, production, or work-related accidents.
Recommend and implement measures to improve worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods, or customer services.
Recommend personnel actions, such as employee selection, evaluation, or disciplinary actions.
Requisition needed personnel, supplies, equipment, parts, or repair services.
Review orders, production schedules, or shipping or receiving notices to determine work sequences and material shipping dates, types, volumes, or destinations.
Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Driver’s License preferred
Computer Skills

Must be able to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data or process information.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the following physical abilities:

Talk or hear.
Close vision.

The employee is occasionally required to:

Reach with hands and arms.
Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Climb ladders up to 148 feet in the air.
Certain job tasks may require you to wear a half mask respirator in which you will need to meet the osha guidelines based on 1910.134(g)(1)(i).

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Typical hours during Production season are 6am-6pm M-F with a half hour break. Saturdays as needed. Typical hours during Maintenance season are 7am-3pm M-F with a half hour break. Saturdays are rare.
