Laborer / Yard Person

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for providing general labor work to support the plant and yard operations. Dependent upon shift assignment may also be responsible for general security of the plant and yard. This position is typically assigned to work weekends 8 to 12 hour shift schedule. Position may be required to work nights, during the week or holidays as the business level dictates.

1. *Assists in rail car unloading as directed.
2. Operates equipment, such as forklift or skid loader in a safe and efficient manner.
3. *Conducts routine tasks that will require general labor activities such as shoveling,
lifting and or moving materials with and without assistance and other routine tasks
that may require the use of hand tools.
4. * Conducts general outdoor and indoor housekeeping of the yard and buildings.
5. * Complete daily maintenance assignments.
6. Dependent upon shift assignment, may be required to provide routine security for
the plant facility, such as security watch, making rounds of facility grounds,
documenting any suspicious activity and contacting management or law
enforcement should situations arise.
7. * Must complete all required paperwork including accounting, time cards, safety or
equipment reports on a daily basis.
8. *Must work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes,
and behaviors.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or GED
2. 1 to 2 years experience in a general laborer position.
3. Must possess a valid class C state driver’s license and have an acceptable driving
Additional Information:
1. Good customer service skills.
2. Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends or holidays.
3. Ability to understand and follow safety, environmental or other regulations and
company policy.
4. Ability to read and write in order to complete required paperwork.
Physical Requirements:
• Requires walking, bending, squatting, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing
to a significant degree.
• Heavy work-exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50
pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move
• Requires the use of hands for grasping and fine manipulations.
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
• Head movement/rotation moving head in any direction (up, down, side to side).
• Requires climbing in and out of ready-mix truck multiple times a day.
Working Conditions:
• Wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) in accordance with
company policy.
• Exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
• Exposure to outside working conditions; to cold or hot temperatures.
• Must work as needed, given the unpredictability of how long jobs or trips will take,
including overtime, nights, and weekends.
