Job Summary:
This position starts out at $15.45 and up, depending on experience. This also has a shift differential added on.

Summary

Assists in quarry operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Works in surface mine, pit, or quarry, or at preparation plant, performing any combination of following tasks;
Cleans up spillage from under conveyors, vibrating screens, rock crushers and other equipment as needed using shovels and high pressure water hoses.
Performs light maintenance on equipment as directed.
Change screen cloth on vibrating screens.
Observes plant and equipment for proper operation and notifies plant operator or supervisor of malfunctions or breakdowns.

Other Requirements

Ability to work night scheduled, Sunday through Thursday, approximately 5PM to 5AM.
Must be able to work overtime during busy season.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

Stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Sit; Climb or balance on ladders and/or stairways at heights of 10 or more feet.
The employee is occasionally required to do the following:

Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear; Work in small or confined spaces.
The employee must frequently be able to:

Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision.
Ability to see in low light conditions, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


This position may require you to wear a half mask respirator at times and therefore, you will be required to be fit tested. Per OSHA “The Respiratory Protection standard, paragraph 29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A), states that respirators shall not be worn when facial hair comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interferes with valve function. Facial hair is allowed as long as it does not protrude under the respirator seal, or extend far enough to interfere with the device's valve function. Short mustaches, sideburns, and small goatees that are neatly trimmed so that no hair compromises the seal of the respirator usually do not present a hazard and, therefore, do not violate paragraph 1910.134(g)(1)(i).

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to extremely loud.,
Employee works near moving parts and equipment.
Subject to heat in summer, cold weather in winter, dust and smoke.
Employee handles oil, antifreeze, battery acid, grease, cleaners, and other chemicals on a daily basis.
The shop is air-conditioned and the employee is subject to intense heat, cold, dust, smoke, and fumes.
Typical hours during Production Season are 5pm-5am M-F with 2-3 Saturdays per month. Typical hours during Maintenance Season is 5pm-3am M-F with no Saturdays.
