Loader Operator

Job Summary:
Use loader/backhoe for the removal of old road surfaces and earth in preparation of new road construction.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Previous experience operating a loader/backhoe preferred.
-Valid Driver’s License.
-General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.

Essential Duties/Responsibilites:
1. Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.

2. Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) on loader/ backhoe.

3. Safely and properly operate loader/backhoe.

4. Receives written and oral instructions from supervisor regarding material to move or excavate.

5. Observes markings on ground & hand signals.

6. Clean out pit settling ponds as needed.

7. Construct drain field and ditches as needed.

8. Prepare site for aggregate mining and stockpile millings and other aggregate products for the plants.

9. Recover submerged aggregate.

10. Remove road surfaces and shoulders.

11. Break up oversized recycle material for crusher.

12. Load trucks.

13. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.

14. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.

15. Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.

16. Performs other duties as assigned.
