Grading Superintendent (seasonal)

Job Summary:
Responsible to safely manage and coordinate activities of construction grading projects and direct construction and maintenance of roads or streets.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Over 2 years up to and including 4 years from post high school, work, military, institutional or vocational environment.

2. Minimum 5 years experience in product line and supervisory role

3. Reasoning ability equivalent to a level of applying logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.

4. Vocabulary ability equivalent to reading various forms of literature, safety rules, instructions, and writing reports. Speak clearly and distinctly.

5. Mathematical ability equivalent to adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing all units of measure including decimal fractions. Ability to apply various concepts of Algebra, Calculus, and Geometry to work. (The position may require different actual mathematical applications.)

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Safely and properly manage and coordinate activities of grading projects

2. Directs construction and maintenance of roads or streets and projects. Assures that work is in conformity with federal and state standards, accepted principles of design and engineering, and available funds. Addresses meetings of interested parties to explain plans and activities of department.

3. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written). Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.

4. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors

5. Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance, Lockout/Tagout.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.
