Tire Technician

Job Summary:
Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others.
Repairs and maintains tires and other mechanics associated with machinery and mechanical equipment such as mixers, loaders, tractors and trailers by performing the following duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- willing to work evenings and weekends, good attendance is essential
- valid Driver's license
- ability to pass pre-employment drug test and physical
1. Inspect and monitor tires for all machinery and mechanical equipment.
2. Repair or replace tires as needed.
3. Quote and order tires for inventory.
4. Perform weekly in depth checks on all tires for the machinery or mechanical equipment.
5. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
6. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts on machinery.
7. Start devices to test their performance.
8. Sets up and operates tools to repair equipment.
9. Inspect equipment brakes systems, frames and other mechanical parts during tire changes or repairs.
10. Raises equipment with hydraulic jack or hoists to remove tires and other mechanical parts from machinery.
11. Removes units such as brakes, suspension and other mechanical parts.
12. Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.
13. Relines and adjusts brakes.
14. Verifies conformance to specifications.
15. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Physical Requirements:
- Extensive walking on uneven surfaces
- Lift and carry up to 100 pounds
- Exposure to dust, fumes, odors
- Hand eye coordination
- Exposure to mists, adhesives, acids
- Frequent and/or extended periods requiring kneeling, bending, and/or twisting, crawling under and over machinery.
- Operating equipment at night under artificial lighting
- Working in all weather conditions for extended periods of time
