Aggregate Scale/Loader Operator

Job Summary:
Responsible to safely and accurately run the Aggregate Materials Plant and operate batch computer used in construction. Operate and maintain loader to feed conveyors, hoppers, or load trucks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Knowledge of plant information and operations, preferably in a related industry.
- Be able to use Microsoft Outlook and Word, and Excel as necessary.
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Willing to work late evenings and weekends, good attendance is essential.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Must be able to pass drug screen, physical and background check.
Duties and/or Responsibilities
- Safely and properly dispatch aggregate materials from the plant. Ensure proper payment for all transactions, prepare daily cash reports.
- Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained, and conduct toolbox meetings daily/weekly.
- Identify appropriate material to meet job specifications.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others at all times.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with Operations Manager and Maintenance Manager.
- Safely and properly operate loader to keep materials fed for maximum production, load trucks up to legal hauling weight limit. Make sure bucket/attachments are lowered to ground whenever leaving the equipment.
- Ensure proper maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) is performed on loader.
- Maintain yard, smooth level haul roads & contaminate free aggregate piles.
- Load trucks with driver in sight to communicate and ensure safe loading procedure.
- Inspect material; check gradation quality, oversize rocks, contaminants.
- Check for spillage on plant floor and clean up daily (assist with shoveling spillage).
- Check for worn out flashing on plant that could lead to spillage.
- Perform thorough monthly plant inspection, preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Accurately complete company reports and other documentation as needed.
- Always work safely and take action to prevent all unsafe acts, processes, and behaviors.
- Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance. Maintain safe working environment and foster safety culture, ensure good housekeeping skills and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Maintain 3 points of contact at all times while performing maintenance activities.
- Must be able to work overtime when needed and maintain a flexible schedule to reflect our customer's needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirments:
- Extensive walking on uneven surfaces
- Lift and carry up to 100 pounds
- Exposure to dust, fumes, odors
- Hand eye coordination
- Exposure to mists, adhesives, acids
- Frequent and/or extended periods requiring kneeling, bending, and/or twisting
- Operating equipment at night under artificial lighting
- Working in all weather conditions for extended period of time
