Safety Technician

Job Summary:
1. Conduct regular walk through inspections of construction areas.
2. Identify, document and recommend resolution of hazardous/potential hazardous conditions; follow through to insure corrections have been made.
3. Investigate personal injury and property damage incidents.
4. Assist in implementation and administration of safety, compliance and training activities.
5. Participate in developing and conducting staff and craft safety orientation training program.
6. Assist in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations.
7. Compile data, photographs, etc..; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with incidents.
8. Conduct various industrial hygiene samplings, such as gas, 02, noise test to insure safe working conditions.
9. Assist in building of Job hazard analysis and safe work plans.
10. Issue various entry permits (i.e. to confine spaces) as required.
11. Assist in conducting employee/craft and insurance inspectors on walk through tours. May accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours.
12. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational and experience requirements include: OSAH 30 card, 1 to 4 years technical training and/or industrial related safety experience. Thorough understanding of all federal and state regulations.
Key Skills & Competencies
Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule. Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential. Must maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
