Safety Director

Job Summary:
Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. Promote On Electric Group’s Core Values, safety culture and Continuous Process Improvement (CPI). Responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the safety and occupational health component of personnel, materials, equipment, and environments to achieve safety effectiveness for the company safety processes and initiatives.

1. Full oversight of the company’s safety processes including vehicle fleet safety, direct and manage all corporate and job site safety staff.
2. Research, develop, and implement safety processes to enhance, encourage, and promote safe working rules, practices, and conditions. Work to educate the workforce on the prevention, detection, and correction of unsafe practices and conditions.
3. Maintain industry peer relationships to develop continuity with changing processes and techniques and effectively communicate these to management and field personnel.
4. Review, interpret, and communicate company, local, state, and federal regulations to ensure understanding and compliance and conduct training relating to OSHA,MSHA, DOT, EPA and company requirements.
5. Represent the Company in community and industry safety groups.
6. Assist with the facilitation of corporate and field safety meetings.
7. Work with field operations management on updating and developing training for various employee/non-employee groups to educate and motivate individuals concerning safety.
8. Maintain the records of company fleet and injury performance and provide reports as required by regulatory agencies.
9. Manage worker's compensation claims and return to work with assistance from HR Director as needed.
10. Maintain, and update the company safety training library.
11. Track all employee safety related training, safety Tool Box Topics and site inspections.
12. Assist MDU-Construction Services Group with safety assessments.
13. Participate in and contribute to MDU-Construction Services Group Safety meetings and activities.
14. Coach and counsel on-site safety personnel.
15. Study, master, and promote the concept of Human Performance Improvement (HPI).
16. Lead by example and with passion to improve the safety culture at On Electric Group (OEG).
17. Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in safety engineering or five (5) years' experience in an electrical or industrial company with occupational safety responsibilities required. A comparable combination of education and experience in an electrical or industrial company will be considered.

Requires in-depth knowledge of OSHA/ODOT/MSHA regulations and a thorough technical understanding of electrical or industrial operations. Strong persuasive skills in dealing with top management and with line managers and supervisors. Ability to organize safety and occupational health material into lesson plans and present the material to line managers and safety committee effectively. Valid driver’s license required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering or Occupational Safety
Five years’ experience as Safety Director
OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer
Certified Safety Professional
Ten years’ experience within the Electrical Industry
Five years' construction experience

Background check and drug screen required.
