Equipment Superintendent/Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Equipment Superintendent supervises, plans, and coordinates the activities of truck and heavy equipment mechanics and schedules preventative maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Two or more years experience working in a military, institutional or vocational environment.

2. Minimum five years experience in heavy equipment and truck repair field.

3. At least two years experience in a supervisory role.

4. Must be able to maintain proper licensure, certifications and an acceptable driving record.
Additional Information
1. Supervises, plans, and coordinates activities of mechanics and schedule of preventative maintenance.

2. Conducts training for new mechanics and provides continuing learning opportunities for all mechanics.

3. Evaluates performance of employees on an ongoing basis and provides direction for improvement.

4. Maintains inventory of parts and equipment and requisitions replacement stock.

5. Oversees vendors and tire maintenance program.

6. Takes calls/requests for repairs then prepares work order and assigns mechanic to project.

7. Estimates costs of personnel, parts and supplies to be used during maintenance.

8. Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance.

9. Troubleshoots and problem solves maintenance issues over the phone to determine extent of repair work needed prior to preparing work order or dispatching mechanic.

10. Communicates effectively (verbal, listening, written) and works patiently with difficult personalities in fast-paced, high stress situations.

11. Must take initiative and be a team-player with good interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to maintain positive customer and employee relations and conduct business in a courteous and respectful manner at all times.

12. Ensures OSHA, EPA, DNR, DOT, safety and environmental regulation compliance.

13. Frequently works in an environment that requires reaching, handling, talking, hearing, exposure to loud noises, and needs strong situational awareness. Occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching.

14. Often required to lift up to 20lbs occasionally and up to 10lbs frequently while performing daily tasks.

15. Performs other duties as assigned.
