Job Summary:
Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others. Implement safety-related policies and procedures within a designated multi-state region. Specifically focus on Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Highway Administration compliance, industrial hygiene monitoring, hazard assessments, safety training, and health and safety programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Safety Specialist II:
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or other discipline related to industrial safety or equivalent industrial safety related work experience.
• Two years industrial safety work experience.

Safety Specialist III:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of higher education in safety, industrial hygiene, or engineering.
• Five years of industrial safety related work experience.

• Excellent human relations and communication skills, with ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information.
• Ability to speak confidently and clearly in front of an audience
• Ability to work independently as well in a team environment, and complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with important matters.
• Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Additional Key Skills & Competencies for Safety Specialist III:
• Ability to provide direction to others.

Preferred Qualifications
• OSHA 10/30 Hour instructor in general industry and/or construction industry.
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.

Additional Preferred Qualifications for Safety Specialist III:
• Registered professional engineer or board certified industrial hygienist.
Additional Requirements
• Required to maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Requires travel - moderate (25% - 40%). Overnight stays required.
• Maintain a First Aid/CPR instructor certification through the National Safety Council or equivalent.
